Development of a Roadmap for Green Hydrogen Ecosystem in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) in Sokhna
In a collaborative effort involving multiple partners, the project is dedicated to nurturing the growth of a flourishing Green Hydrogen ecosystem within the Sokhna Industrial Zone, located under the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) in Sokhna. The project envisions positioning the region as a central hub in the dynamic landscape of green hydrogen industries, in alignment with the global shift toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
The main goal of the project is to advance the realization of Eco-Industrial Parks (EIPs), an approach that harmonizes industrial activities with ecological principles. By carefully evaluating existing service providers and organizations, the project aims to drive the implementation of policies and rules that embody the core principles of EIPs. Concurrently, the project involves strengthening relevant national institutions responsible for EIP policy development by establishing a strong groundwork for sustainable changes within the industrial sector.
A key focus of the initiative is to identify unexplored opportunities within EIPs. An essential objective of the project is to empower businesses with the tools to achieve significant economic, environmental, and societal benefits. The comprehensive plan, crafted in collaboration with the SCZone management authority, serves as a guiding framework to seamlessly weave EIP standards into the fabric of the Green Hydrogen ecosystem.
Additionally, the project aims to enhance the operational effectiveness of industrial parks. Through strategic interventions, the collaboration aims to provide park management and tenant companies with the necessary knowledge and resources to smoothly integrate EIP requirements and national standards.
A noteworthy achievement in this collective endeavor is the establishment of Egypt’s first green hydrogen production facility. The comprehensive approach adopted by the project guarantees that this facility adheres to the highest EIP benchmarks, setting a remarkable example for sustainable energy generation.
