Nexus Analytica Supports Egypt’s First Standalone Battery Storage Projects (1500 MWh) and CPA Agreement with EETC and AMEA Power

Cairo, Egypt – [Thursday – Feb.27th, 2025] – Nexus Analytica, as the lead consulting firm, has contributed in the development of Egypt’s first standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Nexus Analytica  has been contracted by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to draft the Capacity Purchase Agreement (CPA) and formulate the technical and financial schedules for the landmark agreements signed with AMEA Power.

The project encompasses a 500MWh BESS system in Zafarana and a 1,000 MWh Bess system in Benban, making a significant advancement in strengthening Egypt renewable energy infrastructure. The projects’ agreements will enable greater integration of renewable energy into the national grid, ensuring stability and reliability as Egypt progresses toward its target of sourcing 42% of its electricity from renewables by 2030.

The agreements were signed by Eng. Mona Rizk, Chairperson of EETC, and Aqueel Bohra, Chief Investment Officer at AMEA Power, with the presence of Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat.
